TEAM NEWS & UPDATES

date added:  08.1.2008The Montgomery County Rams look to rebound from 0-2 start

After starting the 2008 CFA season 0-2, the Rams look to regroup when they travel to Easton, MD this Sunday to play the Maryland Revolution.   The Revolution lost to the Maryland Sting this past weekend and are more than motivated to win their first game in the CFA, as a first year team.  " I expect both teams to be geared to win this game.  This is a division game and since we have lost one to the(Back River) Bayhawks, this is a crucial early season division game," said Head Coach Quincy Royal.  "The team that comes out sharp from the start will set the tone in this game.  We hope to do that this Sunday."   The 36-6 lost to the Bayhawks has caused a since of urgency at the Rams practice this week.  "We got to win this game on Sunday," said WR Allen Barnett.  "If we execute our plays the whole game, I believe we can win this game.  But, Sunday is the tell tale.  On any given Sunday, any team can win."  The Rams will be ready for the Revolution, this is a must see game.  Here's the address to the field in Easton, MD:

Montgomery County Rams Voluntary Practice - April 27th
At 12:00 PM the voluntary practice began with several players participating in spring football drills.  After stretching and jogging, we began with cone drills to increase flexibility and agility.  Once the “dust was brushed off”, the players began to loosen up and really understood the new commitment and team dedication for the upcoming season.

After completing the five, four, press, coverage, and one-on-one drills, it was time for Offense vs. Defense.  We finished practice in Ram style by            running both 20 and 40-yard dashes with form and speed.  The voluntary spring practices are not mandatory but will pay huge dividends when the          season begins.  Our coaching staff will remember players who were committed and attended these drills during the Spring.  Please remember
this…….”Talk has never won a game - it is what you do on the field without excuses."  “What wins championships is execution and each player
doing his job."  “Let’s remember the Ram way, do your talking on the field."

At 12:00 PM, the 2nd voluntary practice began with several current Rams players and several potential players looking to make the squad for the ’08 season.  After stretching and warming up, the agility drills began.  Many players applied the concept of these drills to real game situations.  40-yard dashes were a must & there was a ton of improvement from last week.  We ended practice with a good showing on defense & offense during skeleton drills.  Our Defense came away with a few interceptions and the timing on Offense looked very good.  We have a long way to go before the season starts and knocking out the kinks will pay huge dividends!  "Talk has never won a game, it is what you do on the field without excuses and getting the job done that wins championships."
